Sick of Negative Income griefers
Normally I'd be the first to tell someone to get over it and accept that its how the game is played. But thats until the past few days.
One particular user has, over the period of the past few days, constantly beaten on me. I don't stand much chance as they have much higher Stam points and significantly larger mob size. I could accept that for the most part, except that they're deliberately doing it to keep me unable to play the game. Without spending significant amounts on hospital bills, which usually gets health that this person then destroys in a few minutes themselves, I am unable to do anything except drug deals.
Repeated requests to this person for them to back off and give me an opportunity to play the game have been ignored. Today I finally lost it and got obviously angry with the person which just gave them reason to do it even more. They started adding punches to their attacks as well. No reason other than to keep me dead. The XP and money they get is no longer their reason for griefing. Their reasoning is purely because they know it pisses me off that I can't play the game and they're the cause of that.
In an effort to back this person off, I started putting a dent in my income and spending the $60,100,000+ a time to put them on the hitlist. But thats not going to do anything except delay them a little while and cost me currency better spent elsewhere in the game. I also know from experience it doesn't really stop anything.
But after several days of this, I have hit my break point. All the above I could gladly accept and deal with if the person at least gave me an opportunity to play the game as well. But they're not, and oh well. My tough luck.
What REALLY gets my blood boiling though, is that this person has a mob size of around 600 (similar to my own) and is fully armed, but has absolutely NO properties at all. Nothing. They are milking my efforts to generate income to cover my own weapons, so they can pay for theirs. And everyone knows that the negative value doesn't come out of the bank, but rather from the cash in hand. So as long as this person keeps their eye on the timer, they can safely retain 90% of their income from griefing me (and I assume others) and buy more weapons and more armour to continue that griefing.
Normally I'd be like everyone else in these forums and tell the poster to get over it. But after several days of this, I now understand just why people get so frustrated with it. I simply cant play the game while this is happening. Sure, I could sit there and do drug deals to level up. But this person griefing me is getting more XP from their griefing efforts, and guaranteed more income. Why should I be happy with drug deals?
I submitted an abuse notice using the Contact Us link in the game, but heard nothing from it. Nor is there any real way to submit proper abuse notices/reports.
So I'm at the point where I don't know whether to continue playing or whether to give it up. I enjoy the game a lot. But I'm tired of the imbalance that LOLplaying seem to be making no effort at all to fix. I'm tired of the griefers that abound in the game. I'm tired of the complete hands off nature of LOLplaying. As if now the game is running they don't need to do anything more except make new games and ignore the old ones.
And all the griefing seems to start with this damn negative income issue.
Well, the negative income is just part of the problem. I know quite a few players who have positive income who would be more than happy to keep you in the hospital. So that's not it.
So do I think players with negative income should be able to play the game? Not really, there should be some serious penalty to players with negative income. Like: no fighting, only jobs until the income is positive again.
But for the other part. Just let it slide. Don't react to him anymore. Just play your game and know that while he is wasting stamina on you, you are actually working on getting stronger. Always stay close to the hospital yourself, don't bank. Maybe sell weapons so you get more income and can fight lower levelled players and get XP from them.
I know it is a hotly debated topic, the subject of negative income. After being in that situation nearly my whole time playing this game, I am trying to correct it now.
However, this boy bothering you, Kinspy, is most likely not doing so to rob you. After all, there are ghosts galore out there you can hit for a handy $70,000 a pop. But it looks like he is only 2 levels above you after all. In my opinion, you got two choices. You can either disregard property for now, weapon up and beat him like a red-headed step child or you can continue being abused by him. You can also put training points into attack and defense when you level up.
It was situations just like this that kept me from buying property back then. I just hated being beaten, so I concentrated on the weapons instead.
Good luck to you.
Yeah, but weaponing down is also a third option. Zilla is right, he is not in it for the cash, so are you giving him XP? If so, weaponing down will make sure he gets no more XP from you. And maybe he will lose his intrerest in you.
Actually, thats exactly what I did in the end. Sold all my equipment except for one BMW and a vest to continue with drug deals. It completely took away any incentive to continue beating at me.
My health vanishes too quickly for any decent amount of profit, let alone enough to be worth the stam points for a negative incomer. And with no weapons, there is very little XP to be gained per hit from me. So I became instantly more expense than it was worth to grief me. He's still hitting me, but far less frequently.
Funnily enough, it made no different to my fight list. Thats still got the same people in it that I now lose against ;-)
Still, saving about $16,000,000 on upkeep has made a fair boost to income so I may stay unequipped for a while and just concentrate on building up the resources for a while.
Great move. And there must be enough players that still give you enough XP. You only have to find them. Try searching in your own mob.
Gave up in the end. The bug spread. If the original wasn't beating on me, others were. Interestingly, the majority of them had no properties, or no properties of enough value to cover upkeep unless they had thousands of such properties. There were enough of them doing it that I was pretty much perpetually in the hospital and buying health was just a waste of money.
Essentially, it was impossible to play and I have better things to do in life than get frustrated by a game.
As a result, I deleted/closed my account.
Maybe if LOLplaying ever grow some and start to care about their community I might consider playing again. But not before they sort out the significant balance issues and entirely get rid of the negative income problem.
Sorry, but games are meant to be enjoyed. Once griefers decide to make your game miserable, there is no way to even report the issue, let alone have it dealt with. When the only response is to put up with it, or make yourself stronger, thats not exactly fair. Especially when you're limited to only drug deals to level up and the griefers are growing their mob as fast as, if not faster than the person being targeted.
Its just not worth the effort. So I'm walking away.
Goodbye.
Dude, this is NOT called 140- Warm-Fuzzy-Fluffy-Happy-Smiley-Land, it is called 140 MAFIA. Expect meanness.
Also - This is a GAME!!!! Deal with it!!!

And all the griefing seems to start with this damn negative income issue. I once had negetive income and made a great living robbing poor saps like yourself. man up, no one can stop u from playing the game if u know how to play. Being robbed is a part of the game, put it in the bank if there's a problem. And trust me LOL is running this game just fine. They've been handing out suspensions left and right. They just know when they have a loser crybaby on their hands.
Hahahaha - true
This player needs to just lay there and think of jolly ole england - it appears to have worked for HOLYMOSES54 (gulp)
I've been hitting the same person since I started playing the game (blushing) does that make me a bad person (looking all innocent)
did you plan that from day one are you both same lvl??

I am with Mark. I run negative because it's about the weapons and the fighting. I work for a property management company and own rentals in real life....and I hate it. If I have to start playing land baron in a *game* I am outta here. I play this game to escape that junk.

ROTFL! Two excellent points. And when they *do* make a game called "140-Warm-Fuzzy-Fluffy-Happy-Smiley-Land" the quitters can go play that. I'm happy here.
Yes, happy here too.
If you get hit and don't like it, all your whining does is expose your weaknesses further.
It was funny. Had someone who didn't like it that I hit them when they thought it was cool to attack me before I stock-piled more weapons.
When I returned the favor, noticed they had taken time out of their busy schedules to go crying to a mobster a couple hundred levels higher than me.
The response from the so-called "higher up" was, "You still want me to whack 'em?"
So I just put a hit on that "higher up" and they were dead in 2 seconds just for the disrespect.
Hope that clears up any confusion for the sissies and whiners who think they can play the game
without becoming subservient to me.
That's how real mobsters do it and it's no simulation of the care-bears whatsoever.
Tattle-tails and snitches end up in the caskets.
Funeral directors have got to make a living too right?
If we don't have fun with it, what's the point?
Merry Christmas ho, ho, hos.
ROFLMAO!

Now I do have income, because I played "my" game that way to be able have income...
Maybe not as much as some, but it does enable me to purchase more weaponry as I level up, and add to my property holdings as well...
PLUS, and this is a biggie, you don't have to play every day... If you do have an income, it will grow, and you can come back after some time and upgrade, as you see fit, your game...
Be Well!
